The Free Auction is located in Columbus, NE., U.S.A. This young and
aggressive internet company started due to the current overpriced online auction sites
(they know who they are), that charge people fees every chance they get -- a percentage of sale fee, a $3.00 fee for each item listed, etc... We got
started so personal users and small businesses could get involved in online auctions for free or
at a very low cost.
The Free Auction was founded by Dan Schmid, president. Dan saw that personal users
were getting tired of paying huge fees to post items up for auction. He had an idea
to make an auction site where ALL basic auction postings would be free for all users.
No Final Value fee's, no % Of Item fees -- no fees at all. It was quite
clear that online auctions were becomming the most successful selling tool available on the web, however, listing on an auction that you had to pay fees to, just dug straight into the pocket of the users. That is
where The Free Auction is different.
Dan's philosophy for building a successful online auction site meant
you had to have something more than just an auction. Not only did he take
that first big step and make basic
listings free, he found success by building a HUGE
WEB COMMUNITY. Our community became so involved that community
members voluntarily policed the auction site as well as assisted others
with problems and suggestions. The community evolved through the use of
discussion forums and chatrooms.
